St. Moritz with skis and luggage: depots, hotel handoffs and cross-border planning

Know which side of Corviglia you will use

St. Moritz Tourism lists access to Corviglia from St. Moritz Dorf via the Chantarella funicular, from St. Moritz Bad via the Signal cable car, and from Celerina via Marguns. A depot near the wrong access point can still leave you carrying boots across town each morning. Ask your hotel which lift you will actually use and whether it has its own ski room.

Two named depots on the Corviglia side

Contact the operator before arriving with your own equipment. Ask about current hours, locker or storage capacity, overnight boot drying, snowboard space and how to retrieve the kit on your departure day. These are daily storage options, not parcel delivery addresses.

If both ends are in Switzerland, compare SBB first

For a rail-based trip within Switzerland, SBB station-to-station luggage accepts packed skis, snowboards, ski boots and bags up to 23 kg per item. SBB says you hand them in at a participating station and collect them from another two days later. Its published price checked in September 2026 is CHF 12 per item. You need a valid ticket for the travel route; check both stations’ hand-in and collection hours.

SBB door-to-door lists St. Moritz among its served localities. Its published standard tariff is CHF 50 per order plus CHF 12 per item, with collection on day one and delivery on day three. The order cutoff is noon on the day before collection. Both addresses must be in Switzerland or Liechtenstein and workable for the carrier; some same-day express routes exist, but availability must be checked. Confirm current prices and your exact addresses on SBB before paying.

When SBB is the simpler answer: you have a Swiss rail ticket, both handovers fit its network and the station or hotel can work with its schedule. Ask BagMeHome about Italy–Switzerland legs or a route needing a different handover.

Arrival and moving around the Upper Engadin

The Engadin arrival guide points to the Albula railway route into St. Moritz and local bus and train connections. It also says stays of more than one night at participating accommodation may include public transport within the Upper Engadin. Check your specific hotel and pass conditions; this helps move people, while the depot or luggage service handles the kit.

Do not assume a mountain depot can receive a carrier parcel. For gear sent ahead, the safest first question is whether your hotel will accept labelled pieces under your booking name, and during which hours.

From Italy to St. Moritz, plan the border explicitly

SBB’s domestic luggage offers cover Swiss/Liechtenstein addresses, so they are not a Milan-to-St. Moritz shipping service. For an Italy–Switzerland shipment, tell us the owner, contents, value for paperwork, exact packed sizes and weights, and the receiving contact. Swiss customs and the selected carrier can ask for more information. We check acceptance and border documents before quoting; do not write “gift” or invent a low value to make the form look easier.

For an Italy–Switzerland carrier shipment, plan to box each bag. Skis and boards need the protective packing the selected carrier accepts; we confirm the method before booking. Keep passports, medication, keys, valuables and what you need for the first ski day with you. If your trip crosses the border again shortly afterward, carrying or renting may be simpler than shipping twice.

Which route is worth arranging?

• One St. Moritz hotel, several ski days: hotel ski room or a depot near your lift.
• St. Moritz → another Swiss rail stop: price SBB station-to-station and door-to-door against the time you can spare.
• Italy → St. Moritz hotel: send us both addresses and dates for a cross-border carrier check.
• St. Moritz → Italy after skiing: keep city clothes with you and ask for a collection only after the final ski day.
